Distance?

It's funny how one views things.  We keep thinking this is a massive thing to be off to Europe but last night I was thinking about it logically.

To get things in perspective all from home to
Ely where we have been for the last 2 years is 50 miles in a straight line

It's 72 miles to Nieupoort,
170 miles to Liverpool which is possible by boat
and 190 miles to Paris.

If a straight line is drawn from home, most of Belgium, Holland and Northern France is less than 100 miles away.  It's because its abroad it seem somehow further.
